Hi all,

here is what the kryptoparty.de owner wrote: http://janmz.de/?p=38 I give you a rough translation:

----------------------8<-----------------
1)
There were only two German entries on the international site [which was
true during buildup of the new site, when I simply copied the Cologne and Bonn entries,
of which I knew that the affected groups are still active, JS].

2) We want to use our party infrastructure to help people.

3) Other parties have their events, we do cryptoparties.

4) If anyone wants his entry on kryptoparty.de to be deleted, I'll gladly do that.

5)
I keep trying to get in contact with people organizing
independend events for days now and got no reaction [sorry, whom did you
 contact? JS].

6) Other pirates are doing great things without stressing their party membership. In this case I don't.
---------------------->8-----------------

Let me say it with the words of our former minister of foreign affairs: I'm still not convinced. Again: I like the Pirate Party. They did a
terrific job in fighting internet censorship back in 2009. They are
doing a great job in opening a constituional law suit against the law
about inventory data request ("Bestandsdatenauskunft", please don't ask
me for the legal term in English). I even hope that they will - unlikely as it is - become member of parliament in September, because I strongly think the time has come to bring some new ideas into parliaments.
Anyway I don't like their claim "we are Pirates and the German
Cryptoparty is our project". First of all it is not true, secondly it will scare people off who'd like to join
cryptoparties in general, but not if they have to assume that they are
participating in a election campaign. As I said: Let the pirates have
their cryptoparties. I won't object, and I even would join them, but
their current claim goes too far.

A simple change would to. Remove the party logo, remove the advertisment
and write something like "The Pirate Party strongly supports
cryptoparties". I have nothing against support, but I don't like being
occupied.
Best regards,

Jochim
