[CryptoParty] Flyers

@ Samuel,

Most of the feedback I got was really positive. Probably the most enthusiastic was from younger people, college and high school age. I was also able to pass on some info to a Mozilla developer which was great. The people there were a good audience, the public at large, especially in the US would probably be a little more difficult. Honestly though, I think people would be pretty curious and willing to learn more if the information was presented to them in an accessible way.

The only somewhat skeptical feedback I got was from a socialist group that said TOR is slow as shit and people don't really want to pay for VPNs. I'm not an expert on encryption software, and I didn't have great answers, so I suggested he check out the site and the handbook. Again, feedback and reception was positive overall.

Some friends and I are going to try and get in contact with some professors from RIT, and see if we can work out a way to use a classroom at the university. I'll let you know if it pans out.

Thanks for the great site, I'm really hoping more people can learn about how to use what's available to encrypt their data and communications.

Best,

Thanks so much for this, we were just talking in the irc about art+crypto so this is very welcome indeed. Thanks ^_^

@Who Dat: I hope you enjoyed the protest, just out of interest, what kind of feedback did you get from people when handing out the flyers?
FYI if you want to dump them all in an email I would be glad to get a copy of source files to send to a graphics design friend of mine.

@Everyone: do you think we can benefit from this kind of targeted flyer posting at some other events coming up soon? Can anyone suggest an event?
Thoughts on crowdsourcing / distributed printing of flyers over twitter? Mechanism: make artwork, tweet about it / share it, a vounteer downloads and prints maybe only a few, maybe a few more people do the same, and then print and handout flyers at such events as they are happening around the world, maybe have a team online making the artwork / messaging ahead of such events?

Also do you think that as a result of the flyer posting we can try to make some kind of nucleation around Rochester NY USA by reaching out to a few people online?

I made some generic CryptoParty flyers, which I handed out today at a Restore the Fourth "protest" today in Rochester NY USA, which were very well received. But not being a wiki developer I do not know how to add them to the wiki. If someone could put them up, let me know and I'll send them to you as an email attachment. They are in English, but I can provide source files to anyone who would like to swap out text.

Thanks,
